One of this year’s gallery program highlights – Marquetry: The Sleeping Beauty – is a collection of pieces commissioned by participating gallery YMER&MALTA for Design Miami/Basel 2014. The design brief from gallerists Valérie Maltaverne and Rémy Le Fur called for French designers Sebastian Bergne (Normal Studio), Benjamin Graindorge and Sylvain Rieu-Piquet to each collaborate with a Parisian master ébéniste to re-imagine marquetry.
Bespoke furniture designer-craftsman Toby Winteringham has once again teamed up with London-based PATTERNITY, the influential pattern-centric design practice that his daughter Grace Winteringham founded with Anna Murray. This time he has handcrafted a sculptural parquetry piece, called The Structure of Chocolate, depicting the molecular model for a single chocolate molecule.
This Custom Arts and Crafts Revival Bedroom Set by Craig Thibodeau is Compact and Convenient. The client’s brief called for a compact set of furniture for a small bedroom. The design concept called for Arts and Crafts Revival styling with a subtle Asian aesthetic, with the pieces related via their contrasting figured woods and graceful curves.

He recently relocated Wiggers Custom Furniture from a large facility in Port Ferry to a smaller shop adjacent to the family’s new home in Beaverton, Ontario.
